04 May 2010 -  Hampshire Under 11 'Open'

Bank Holiday Monday, Mountbatten Track, Portsmouth

Great venue and some great performances from all the athletes at this 'open' event. Over 50 competitors braved the wind and showers to run, jump and throw their way to some PB's ....and so early in the season.

It was really good to see the young athletes sharing the arena with their older multi-eventers and I hope learn from them at the same time.  All had to contend with up to 4mph head winds along the home straight & the long jump pit but still found that bit extra too.  The 'howler' throwers were luckier as they had the wind behind them.

This is the second year of the 'Quadkids Open' and the take up by athletes continues to be good...several clubs represented as well as some individuals.  Thanks to all the officials on the day who managed the young athletes with aplomb!!

results will be put on the website just as soon as I receive them from the organisers.

30 April 2010 -  Carr Manor SSP Quadkids Start a Huge Success

Leeds Met Students ran a great yr3-4 event at Leeds Carnigie's fantastic sports facilities on Tuesday 27th April, a full report will be added shortly along with the results of the event.

Don Lennon Regional Coordinator for West Yorkshire asked the students to talk about themselves and why the wanted to run the event

We are all Level 2 Sport Development students at Leeds Metropolitan University, as part of our studies we had to run an Event for our Event Management Module. QuadKids is fantastic new venture which allows the participants to take part in all events (50m Sprint, Vortex Howler Throw, Standing Long Jump and a 400m run follwed by a fun relay!).

For our event we had to inspire Years 3 and 4 to take part in a competitive athletics environment and also try and filter in some important Olympic Values. Luckily for us we have Leeds Mets fantastic sporting facilities, so we utilised this opportunity with open arms. The event was a fantastic success and has hopefully left a legacy for future Quadkids events in Yorkshire.

The first of four events for Bournemouth primary schools saw an amazing start to the season........not just sunshine and a great atmosphere at the event but records from the very start!!

Star of the show was Patrick from Malmesbury Park school who amassed a score of 308 points across the four events......a record for Bournemouth (& I'm checking about a national record too)
