Over 135 athletes competed in an exciting and vibrant competition. The fantastic sunshine sunshine replicated the atmosphere of the competition!! it was a tight compeition competition and there were countless excellent individual and team performances. The overall winners were Conard closely followed by Castle Hill (runners up). Both schools will go through and compete in the Suffolk County Quadkids Final on Thursday 8th July. Well done to everyone who took part and for making the event a great success!!!

24 June 2010 - FUS East Dorset Cluster
Having watched the drama of the World Cup yesterday there was no less action going on in Ferndown, Dorset today! The event was small but still producing exciting races and close finishes.......non more so than in the individual events for both boys and girls.
Piers (St Michaels) and Charlie (Ferndown Middle) tied for 1st place on 235 points.......a cracking contest that went to the wire.
Not to be outdone the girls also had a close finish but this time for 2nd and 3rd place. Kelly (St Michaels) took 1st place with 199 points but Jessica 180 points(St Michaels) was only one point ahead of Fiona 159 points (Ferndown)
Overall team winners were Ferndown Middle showing that the team score is all important. Congratulations to them and it is all to play for now as the county final approaches.
Thanks again to the F.U.S. young leaders for helping at the event.....they too will be at the finals as event coordinators!
23 June 2010 - 'Better Than Watching England Play!'
That was the parting comment from one satissfied teacher following the inaugural Gedling SSP Final. Praise indeed given that the Partnership Final was taking place at a scorching Harvey Hadden Stadium, Nottingham on the same afternoon as England were playing their vital qualifier in the World Cup. Indeed temperatures were more like a South African summer but the children from 14 schools took the sizzling conditions in their stride and created an atmosphere more akin to a World Cup match .... but without the vuvuzelas thank goodness!
Lowdham Primary emerged as eventual winners ahead of Westdale Juniors in second and Burton Joyce Primary just one point behind for third.
On hand to give out the winners trophy and medals was Jemma Flannigan representing Lloyds TSB who are supporting National School Sport Week activity nationally in the run-up to the London Olympics. With her was GB international high jumper Vicki Hubbard, who as a Llyods TSB 'Local Sporting Hero' gave the children a glimpse of the kind of standard that can be reached in athletics.
The top 3 individuals all came from the top 3 teams. Lowdham teammates Tamara M and Sydney B finished first and third respectively in the girls event with Westdales Ellie D in second. In the boys event Mitchell V from Westdale came first, William G from Burton Joyce second and Edward C from Lowdham third.
23 June 2010 - Blessed Dominic outshine World Cup England
In bright sunshine the endeavours of the athletes from Blessed Dominic primary school clearly outshone England's World Cup possible wobble against Slovenia.
Their on-going coaching sessions with Steve Harris put them in great shape to take on the 4 QuadKids disciplines, with the heat only managing to have an adverse effect upon the 600m run times.
In the end a valiant effort from all athletes saw Vanny win the boys overall title with an excellent 71 points in the Vortex Throw and Daniella in the girls competition with her sprint time of 12.1 securing her a top score.
All results are now up on the QuadKids website and we hope to see students of Blessed Dominic next academic year as we aim to create a QuadKids assessment for each term as a valuable measure of their fitness progress.
For any pupils who want to test themselves again, we are providing a free QuadKids event at Parliament Hill track (Hampstead Heath) on July 11th starting at 11am and open to all - we hope to see you there!
23 June 2010 - QE Wimborne yr 5/6 Cluster
Scorching temperatures at Wimborne as the schools took to the track for this QK encounter........only one thought....keep cool !
Far from it as the athletes from all schools set about their races with vigor and enthusiasm....speeding down an almost melting track for the sprints and taking on plenty of water prior to the 600m. The field events were no less competetive as some great throws and jumps kept coming during the afternoon.
It was such a tight finish in the end for the overall team result but Allenbourn A finally triumphed over Cranborne with the Allenbourn B team coming third.
In the individual event it was Cranborne who took the honours with Abi !st, Luisa 2nd & Sophie 3rd in the girls and Harry 2nd in the boys. It remained for Allenbourn boys Ryan and Harvey to take 1st and 3rd.
A great competition in stifling heat and credit to all the athletes for doing so well. A word also for the excellent Young Leaders from QE who coordinated the four disciplines during the afternoon.
Next up is Ferndown cluster on 24th June which will complete the East Dorset events....it will then be a tense wait to see who has qualified for the county finals on the 5th July at Kings Park track, Bournemouth.........and we'll also know if a certain football team have reached their qualification too !!!!!?????
