02 June 2010 - Wilmslow, Handforth & Alderley AC hold a QuadKids open competition
Wanting to do something different for the athletes in their club, Wilmslow, Handforth & Alderley AC held a fun QuadKids competition for their athletes on their usual club night.
Based at Wilmslow High School in Cheshire, the club used the field to run the 600m and the 75m, coned off a 50metre area for the Vortex Howler throw and used the schools sand pit for the Long Jump.
Each child was allocated a number to be pinned on their shirt before the event started and their names were entered in the QuadKids Results Spreadsheet. The Boys and Girls were then divided into 4 groups and rotated around the 4 events, so each child took part in each event. Throughout the competition results were put in the QuadKids Results spreadsheet so that when the competition finished the children could find out how they had performed. Results were announced at the end, with each child getting a certificate with their own individual points score.
By holding another QuadKids event in the future Wilmslow,Handforth, Alderley & AC can monitor their athletes progress over time, while the children taking part can try to beat their previous QuadKids points scores. So Quadkids can be used to Talent ID and monitor progression while also motivating the kids to test themselves and improve their scores.

02 June 2010 - Sefton combines Young Leader training with a Primary Event.
Young Leaders from secondary schools from across Sefton attended QuadKids Young Leader training at Litherland Sports Park on the 17th May. Alex Stokes and Mark Gardnier organised the training day to upskill the young leaders before they assisted at the QuadKids Primary and Secondary competitions being held for schools across Sefton this summer.
The morning saw young leaders learning how to offciate and run a QuadKids event, while also experiencing what it would be like for the competitors by taking part in the four different QuadKids events. The results spreadsheet was also demonstrated with 2 young leaders opting to carry out this role for the future competitions.
Then to add to their experience Alex Stokes then ran a Primary QuadKids competition for 3 local Primary schools, allowing the Young leaders to put theory to practice. Pupils from Netherton Moss, St Oswalds and Litherland Moss took part in all 4 events with Litherland Moss just clinching a win over the other two teams on the day.

27 May 2010 - QuadKids at British Triathlon Kids of Steel
True multi sports was the order of the day in Ealing as QuadKids teamed up with British Triathlon's Kids of Steel event at Gurnell Leisure Centre.
Hundreds of children either before or after their mini triathlon were coached and then tried to beat the furthest throw of the day at the the QuadKids Vortex Howler stand.
Without question the best throwing school was Breakspear, with many young cricket experts cracking the magical 30m marker, special mention must go to James E with 35.2, Sash T with 36.4 and of course Harman S with what we thought would be the best throw of the day with 37.5m.
However, just when we thought Harman's magnificent effort was the winner, up came St John's school with first Ray U throwing a superb 36m, but then Jode M became the first boy to go beyond the mythical 40m barrier with 40.4m!
Huge congratulations to Jode and we hope that he does consider joining his local athletics club (Ealing & Southall - website www.esm.org.uk) and putting that fantastic technique to good use with a javelin very soon.
Well done to all children who took part and following conversations with many teachers we hope to see you again for a full QuadKids competition in your school cluster soon. - To arrange please contact ben@quadkids.org
Just remember our three QuadKids coaching points; 1. plant the foot, 2. keep the elbow high and 3. swivel those hips to throw it yet further.
Happy throwing and we hope to see you all very soon!
